How it works

Start however you like.

A room you’re finishing, a photo you love, someone you’re thinking of, or just a feeling. Every painting starts with a short conversation, and nothing is made until you approve it.

The work itself

Not a print of a painting.A painting.

Most art online is the same stock photo, printed smooth onto a thousand canvases from the same catalogues. Ours is painted: a world-first technique we invented lays down professional, artist-grade acrylic, stroke by stroke.

Thick ridges. Shadows that move with the light. It’s a painting.

Design yours

Art that’s only ever yours.

Real painted texture

Acrylic paint on canvas, with ridges and brushwork you can see from across the room and run a light across at night.

Large format, any size

From a reading-nook piece to a statement wall over the stairs. Custom dimensions, matched to your wall, not a standard-size chart.

One of a kind

A true 1 of 1, like an original from a gallery: made for you, never repeated. It won't turn up in a hotel lobby or on someone else's feed.

Preview the exact framing

Frame, mat, and finish mocked up on your actual piece before it's made, so what arrives is what you approved. Prefer it unframed? That's an option too.

Three ways to own it

Prints on stretched canvas from $25, embellished prints with hand-painted texture from $125, and original paintings from $175: the same design process at three price points.

Ready to hang

Everything you need to get it on the wall comes in the box. Unbox it, hang it, step back.

See it first

Never order art blind again.

Ordering anything custom usually means crossing your fingers until the box opens. Here, you stamp and approve before we paint anything.

Your piece is mocked up with the exact frame, mat, and finish you chose, before a drop of paint goes down. What you approve on screen is what comes off the truck.

Share a photo of your wall during the design conversation, and we keep your room in view the whole way through. And if what arrives isn’t what you approved, we make it right.

Delivered

Unbox it. Hang it. Step back.

Your painting arrives finished and protected: glassine over the paint, guarded corners, and a sturdy box built for precious cargo.

Hardware and simple instructions are in the box. Renting? Ask for no-drill hanging hardware instead.

The artists

The hands behind your piece.

Every piece you design is reviewed by our in-house team at the Acrylic Atelier in Montreal, so it looks as good on your wall as it does on screen. Choose a painting, and it’s finished there by hand.

Want to work with a particular artist? Soon you’ll be able to start a piece in Acrylic Studio and hand it to one of our partner artists to bring to life. Until then, email hello@artbyacrylic.com and we’ll make the introduction.

One thing we don’t do: designs “in the style of” a named artist. Ask for one and we’ll help you put the look you’re after into words instead.

Homeowners & renters

That wall you keep walking past? You already know what it needs, and it isn't the closest match from a big-box shelf. Describe it, and we'll design it with you: no gallery visits, no guesswork.

Residential designers

You specify every other finish in the room. Now the art, too: directed by you, mocked up for your client, and made to the exact wall.

Real estate & staging

Original art scaled to the wall and tuned to the palette, so the space photographs and shows like it's truly finished.

Artists & creatives

Bring your own eye. Direct every detail of a piece you've been imagining, or hand us a reference and push it somewhere new.

Why we exist

Championing the creative renaissance, one beautiful painting at a time.

Art didn’t get worse. Buying it did. Somewhere between the gallery markups, the months of back-and-forth, and the fear of buying wrong, hanging something real became a project most people quietly gave up on. The walls went blank, and we all agreed not to mention it.

Hot from the studio.

Paint, process, and whatever’s inspiring us lately.

Common questions.

Do I need an art or design background?+

No. The design process asks about your space, your taste, and the feeling you're after, in plain words. We handle the translation into composition, palette, and technique, and you approve every step.

What does it cost?+

Designing is free: the conversation, the art direction, the artwork options, and the revisions. You only commit when you approve a final quote. Prints on stretched canvas start at $25 USD, embellished prints at $125, and original paintings at $175; the price grows with size and framing, and your quote lays it all out before anything is made.

Who actually makes the art?+

Our studio does, using a proprietary, world-first manufacturing technique we invented: it builds your piece in real brushstrokes of real acrylic paint, not ink on paper. Our curators shape the direction with you, our production team makes it real, and nothing is pulled from a catalogue.

What materials do you use?+

Professional, artist-grade acrylic paint on gallery-grade canvas for paintings. Prints are made on stretched canvas, not paper, and embellished prints are finished in real paint for genuine texture. Framing options include wood floater frames in several finishes, with or without matting.

Can I see it in my room before it's made?+

You'll see your piece mocked up with the exact frame, mat, and finish you've chosen before you approve anything. Share a photo of your wall during the design conversation and we'll keep your space in view as the direction takes shape. Want to see it mocked up first? Reach out to our curation team at hello@artbyacrylic.com and we'll help you out.

What if I don't like the options?+

You steer at every step. Ask for changes in plain words, send a piece back, or switch directions entirely, and nothing goes to production until you've approved it. If it never feels right, you've spent nothing.

How long does it take?+

Design moves at your pace: directions and artwork options keep step with your feedback. Once you approve, production and delivery timelines depend on the piece and are laid out in your quote, so you know the real dates before you commit.

How is it shipped and packaged?+

Finished and protected for the journey: the painted surface is wrapped in glassine paper, the corners wear protectors against knocks and falls, and the whole piece travels in a sturdy cardboard box built for precious cargo. It arrives ready for the wall, and we deliver worldwide.

What about hanging it?+

Everything you need to hang it comes in the box: hardware and simple instructions, so getting it on the wall is a ten-minute job, not a project. Framing is your call: choose a frame and it arrives framed, or keep the canvas clean and hang it as is. Renting, or can't make holes in the wall? Tell us and we'll include no-drill hanging hardware instead.

What's your guarantee?+

You approve the piece, the framing, and the mockup before anything is made, so what arrives is what you chose. If it shows up damaged or not as approved, we make it right.

The art you’re looking for doesn’t exist yet.

Design it. It costs nothing to start, and the first version of your artwork is a short conversation away.
